COVID-19 and the EOTFOA

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a serious impact on sports organizations, including football in Ottawa and across Eastern Ontario.

This page contains the latest updates as they relate to EOTFOA and the leagues for which we provide Officials.

As of November, 2020:

  • Due to government mandates and safety concerns, none of the Eastern Ontario leagues or teams which our organization services were active during summer or fall 2020.

  • Thus, EOTFOA has not created return-to-play protocols. When leagues are ready to resume play, we will follow governmental and CFOA safety regulations. These protocols, obviously, will reflect the situation at the time.

  • Because some football did take place in other provinces, other organizations did draft return-to-play protocols. As an example, here are the protocols implemented by the APAFQ in Quebec. Scroll to Page 6 for the English version.

  • Football Canada crafted the COVID-19 Return to Football Guidelines, though this document is not specific to Officials.

In the interim:

  • The EOTFOA executive continues to liaise with our partners and leagues. We will provide updates as information becomes available.

  • The EOTFOA executive remains active conducting the business of the organization, recruiting new Officials, and planning training for our members so we’ll be prepared when we are able to return to the field.

  • One example of our off-season activities is our new EOTFOA.ca website. Watch for additional resources in 2021, including updated recruiting information, training materials and more.
